Kaprun is easily reached by car, airplane or train:
Driving by car you have the choice driving via either Kitzbühl or Lofer when approaching from the north. You arrive via main roads and when at the German border, you can drive local main roads without the need to buy a 'Autobahnvignet'. Type 'Chalet an der Piste Kaprun' into your Google Maps or iPhone Maps and the location of the accomodation should be found. Alternatively enter 'Chalet an der Piste, Schaufelbergstraße 76, 5710 Kaprun' into your car navigation
When flying you have choice from a number of low-cost airlines that fly to either Innsbruck, Munich, or Salzburg. Salzburg is the easiest airport to fly to if you have the possibility to buy a cheap ticket as you only need to drive about one hour from the airport to Kaprun (depending on weather circumstances).
At the airports of Salzburg, Innsbruck and Munich cars can easily be rented. In our experience, the route via Lofer is the quickest and as one uses a main route, but not hte highway, one does not need to purchase an Austrian car vignet.
Interested in traveling to Kaprun by train? More and more nighttrains are travelling to Zell am See, where you can grab a taxi to Kaprun. Within a 15 minute drive you will arrive at the chalet fully rested.
